IPB, IPC and IPD

So far this week I’ve managed a little bit of everything.

The biggest achievement being adding the IP.Converge installer. Rikki designed and Josh wrote a fairly generic IPS installer framework which I’ve tweaked for IP.Converge. It’s a really nice system that will be used for IPB and IPD to give a familiar look and feel to our products.

I’ve adjusted it so that most of the database population is done via XML files to reduce the amount of “raw” SQL commands in an insert.php file. Manual inserts can be tricky when database schematics change, etc. IP.Converge only has one such manual insert SQL command which makes things much easier to maintain.

IPB 2.2 continues nicely. IP.Converge integration is totally finished and the new ACP in place. IP.Dynamic rolls on well, too. I’ve added a few “system” type tools to make maintenance easier. IP.Dynamic has certain ’system’ pages (log in form, registration form, etc) and these can now be updated from a single XML file.

Keep an eye out for some announcements next week.

IP.Converge Installer

I can’t tell you how much I am looking forward to IP.D, I really wnt to try that out on my site!

Looks nice, Mac style installer :P

You’re going all out on the OSX-like GUI. You’re also doing it very well. :D

Looks good. I can’t wait to get it all. :)

Nice installer. You still can’t see it properly (WinXP) on the Nexus installer - is this fixed since you’ve been tweaking it?

it looks almost nothing like the OSX GUI, and the icons resemble that of a windows vista/xp style

but anyway, gj Matt none the less

The way its layed out is the same as the OS X installer.

Announcements. :-D Hopefully for Nexus Public Beta. :-”

The style of this installer is a generic look of a typical installer package. It’s not WinXP or Mac only.

As Don said, in reality most system installers look the same. I’d say it looks more like XP simply because it uses the IPB gradient, but it wasn’t a concious decision to ‘copy’ either one while I worked on it. It was a requirement I set myself that it should be familiar to users though, so that played a part.

I think it looks great. I recently switched to mac so that struck me as something I often see.

It’s about time for a new installer! :P
Looks great.

Now we just need an IPA and you’re on your way to conquer the alphabet. ;)

I’m thinking the A is for Administrators. IP.Administrators - they are the superheroes that control the other letters of the alphabet…or perhaps it’s just Invision Power Alphabet-Soup?

IP.Alphabet
IP.Anything
IP.Amazing
IP.Absolute
IP.Atomic

Hi Matt, I was searching for answers on the web when i stumbled upon your page. since your entries say so much about IPB, i’d just like to ask… what is an IPB image? Why can’t I view images on my browser, but instead, in the place of those images, i see text that read “IPB Image”. I’d really appreciate it if you could give me a hand on this. Much thanks.
