Christmas, Post.

Well, it’s the first day back after Christmas. I’m still trying to retrain my stiff fingers in speed typing after around 10 days away from the keyboard and filing away thousands of spam emails.

I plan on beating my body back into shape after serial food abuse and a week away from exercise. I’m actually looking forward to that in a masochistic kind of way.

I hope your Christmas was as jolly as mine. Highlights include a Nintento Wii (thanks Debbie!) which is pretty nifty and just as much fun as expected. The controller system is genius and ‘Red Steel’ is great fun to play.

I also got CoD 3 for the xbox360 which I’m working my way through. It’s graphically more impressive than CoD 2 but I’m not so sold on the over-the-top gung-ho structure and cheesy cliche dialogue. Still, those textures. Pretty.

I’ve got the money to get a PS3 or anything under its price, and entries like yours keep making me want to get a Wii …

But, Zelda … I wouldn’t mind playing Twilight Princess. Hmm…

I can’t recommend the Wii enough. You haven’t lived until you’ve played Red Steel with the controller and nunchuck.

It’s a FPS. You aim the ‘gun’ sight with the Wii stick controller using the trigger to fire. You use the analogue stick on the nunchuck to move around. You can press A and move the stick controller towards the TV to zoom in before shooting.

Also, Wii Sports is a blast. The bowling and boxing game are favourites.

I can’t think why anybody would choose a PS3 over the Wii + xbox360 which you can get for the same price.

Because PS3 is the best thing ever, silly! Everyone knows that. Anyway…

It’s now January. 2007. So, er, where’s the IP Dynamic beta then, eh? EH?!!?

Ok, ok joking aside about PS3s and IPD - are we really goint to see a public beta of IPD this month?

CoD2 looks great on 360, if CoD3 looks even better, I’ve got to get it ;)

Michael Lysons, You have reason :) And MATT has said “a BETA of the IPD will released after new year”. I wait also beta of the IPD with impatience.
This is a super system/program! Waaooow

Well, if he said ‘after’ the New Year, did he specifically say in January? :P Either way, this is more of a “welcome back” post, not a business level post. I think it’d be more jovial to keep it as such.

I actually received the first model PS3 system as a Christmas gift — the one with the larger HD, WiFi, and movie/game combo; as well as the impossible to get remote control, and an extra controller with two extra games and one on reserve. I felt like a complete jerk, but I had it all returned. Sony’s already thinking of creating a third version of the PS3 that’ll cost ~$1300 and there are still problems with the first one. Sony does not have the “gamer” at heart, but the technology. Technology is not the be-all, end-all, and they’re going to learn it (once again…sigh) the hard way. I’ll eventually upgrade my XBox to an XBox360 and pick up a Wii to replace my N64. Besides, the Wii will go well alongside my new Mac Mini. ;) The Wii definitely still has a way to go in terms of available games though. I’m not quite interested enough to plunk down the money just yet.

Matt, how’s the sword-slashing action in Red Steel?

He did say that he was confident of a public beta in January - unless my memory is faulty, in which case please forgive me.

And I am being jovial. I’m just very interested in the software he creates :-)

Awesome Matt - glad to hear you had a happy Christmas and you got some neat gifts out of it. My father is going Wii hunting for me because he wants to get me one for some reason and I’ve found some tips on how to assist him in his hunt for a Wii. Anywho, do you use the online Wii service? Rikki posted from his Wii in the Wii Opera browser, and he said the IPS Company Forums looked pretty good.

Nice you got Call of Duty 3 it is a very easy game to beat and it a lot more shorter then Call of Duty 2. Online is a lot of fun too. I will play you Matt online and beat you :)

Matt, have you tried gmail? it works really well as far as spam is concerned and you don’t need any extra plug ins.

He does have GMAIL according to this

http://whois.domaintools.com/mattmecham.com

Matt how about you lock the domain and put WHOIS guard on it is a free feature of TUCOWS.

The Wii is great fun - I love it (so glad I bought him it!) ;)
Anyway, I do have injuries though from boxing and bowling. My shoulders ache like nothing I have ever experienced before (Ok, so that’s a lie but they do really hurt). So worth it though to bowl for free and punch the living daylights out of someone just for the hell of it! :D
Sadistic? Me? Never.

No updates for ages, you must be really busy on IPD. Right? RIGHT?!!?

Come on, throw us a frickin’ bone here!

Michael Lysons
