Catherine Tate’s “Super” Gran

I’ve seen a few Catherine Tate sketches over the past few years but I’ve never really seen an entire episode.

For Christmas, Debbie thoughtfully gave me the series 1 and series 2 box-set. Some of it is a little hit and miss but overall it’s surprisingly deep and very funny. Catherine seems to go for more classic character and situation based comedy in 8 minute scenes as opposed to the Little Britain style of outrageous characters in two minute sketches. She really fleshes out her characters and she virtually disappears into the role.

One of my favourite creations is her pitch-perfect characterization of an old gran. A cantankerous foul-mouthed bully of an old lady who enjoys a good rant at the expense of her grandson.

Series 1 concludes with one of the best comedy sketches I’ve seen in a long time which has fortunately been captured on YouTube.

If the “f” word offends, then I wouldn’t click here to watch the clip.

Hear, hear! Catherine Tate is one of my favourite comedians, and I’m grateful someone was clever enough to purchase the rights to send it where I live.

That sketch was awesome, too.

I think she’s criminally underrated as both a writer and an actress.

“Bunty” the 31 year old baton twirling nut-case is genius. She really goes so deep into that role you don’t realise that it’s really her.

I havnt really watched her much, i got sucked into little brittian more but of the episodes i have seen, they are generally hilarious. The first ever sketch of hers i saw was of her as the old lady, and i knew nothing about the show and genuinely thought that she was a old lady.

P.s I added you on live, how about a COD3 game?

Catherine Tate is a legend. I’m glad there’s people online who show the same enthusiasm I show. I love the show, watched the eposides 3 times over.. however, got a little bored now. Sadly, Catherine Tate won’t be doing any more sketches according to an interview done before Christmas. Shame.

I have one word for you….

Shit-ake.
;)

Pretty funny. Kinda hard to understand though (Sorry not from the UK.) Snowmen Hunters is funny.

Catherine Tate is ok but i think she apeals more to the 30-50 year old audiences than anyone younger

off topic:

It’s just me who think that Matt is a distant brother of Jonathan from Blowout program (the Hair Styler dude) ?
