Gimmie your money!

by Matt Mecham on March 1, 2007

I’m taking part in a 5km run in Peterborough on March 11th for a local charity, Action4MensHealth, which was set up to help and educate about male health issues including prostate cancer. The run is appropriately named the ‘Chilly Willy 5k’.

Debbie’s dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer four years ago and – thankfully – he’s been successfully treated. Unfortunately her granddad died from prostate cancer in 1996 so this is a very personal and important issue for us both.

All the money raised will go directly to the UK Prostate Cancer Charity and it will help fund research and support for current sufferers.

Please donate if you can – every penny counts!

You can donate online: http://www.justgiving.com/chillywillyfunrun

Thanks!

Good luck, Matt. Do you have a goal time in mind or are you not that way inclined? Are these the male version of the Race for Life, by the way?

Thanks to everyone who has donated so far – I really appreciate it.

Michael, the race is to promote a new local charity which supports mens’ charities.

As for a goal time; this is my first race so I’m not sure what to expect. I know that without pushing myself too hard I can do 5k in about 25 minutes on a treadmill. If I finish in under 30 minutes on the day, I’ll be pleased.

Well, races are the best bit about running, so I’m sure you’ll love it. Adrenaline will ensure you run faster than on the treadmill too!
