I notice a disturbing lack of Orion by Metallica, quite possibly one of the most beautiful songs ever made.

Are you Matt Mecham or another one? Can’t be too sure :P

Orion is currently my favorite compostion, it’s a bloody brilliant song.

Well, I am “a” Matt Mecham. As it says in my little profile; I am the IPS Matt Mecham. He who did that Ikonboard and that Invision Power Board.

YAY! Mecham likes Orion!

If there is one song anybody must hear before they die its….

Ordinary World by Duran Duran

It is the unquestioned definitive song of music itself.

I love arcade fire. Its not to heavy and not too slow. But of course the best band in the WORLD by far is System of a down:)

Jenny is quite right (and this coming from a non-fan of Duran Duran) – Ordinary World just HAS to be listened to!

I think it’s missing IRON MAIDEN!!!!

14 Kevin Corbat March 31, 2009 at 1:29 am

Come on man! ya gotta have some Brick in the wall-pink floyd on there!

LOL =-)

nice list, wolf at the door IS the best Radiohead song. Interesting to see Sigur Ros without Hoppipola!! probably the best song of its kind…

But the headline confuses me!?!?!? songs you must hear before you die? I think you need to hear good songs of all genres before you die…. this is not the BEST EVER SONGS list!!! (which would probably be more apropriate for your list)

those are really good but… not a good list

you’re missing all the essentials, dude. Where’s my zeppelin, robert johnson, de lucia, alice in chains, sade…

too much music for such a short list

Thanks for the list – quite a few really spoke to me – I haven’t had my soul gripped like that in quite a while.
