Twitter Weekly Updates for 2010-02-07

by Matt Mecham on February 7, 2010

  • Morning all. I like it when a new month starts on a Monday. Seems appropriate. #
  • RT @giggsey: @mattmecham and just think, because Feb is only 4 weeks, March will also start on a Monday. (Yes, even better!!) #
  • Hello. Super busy today. Wrapping up the admin side for the soft delete feature. Can't stop… #
  • Wish the courier with my new phone would just turn up. Half the time I'm sure they just post the "you were out" card through the door. #
  • Sneaky little screenshot: http://bit.ly/dkCStp – Added some handy new options in the topic list / posts view moderation dropdowns #ipb #
  • re: last tweet. If you have 10 "soft deleted" topics in a forum, then you can delete/restore them all in one go via new opts in dd. #
  • Silly marketeers. http://bit.ly/b1xY0P – I wanted some free string. :( #
  • Still no phone. 55 minutes until their last delivery time. Who wants to take a bet? #
  • Doesn't help that the Orange website is pretty horrid. And it keeps asking me to "Download IE8". #
  • 5:35 and no phone. Woe is me, etc. #
  • Phoned Orange. Despite an email and txt confirming delivery, the order "hasn't gone through". Nice. Weds for delivery now. #
  • Luke having a play in his home made tent. http://mypict.me/3puPT #
  • Busy busy busy. How are you? #
  • Bought a Sky+ HD box to replace our failing Sky+ box. Phoned sky to pair the card to the box and it works great. Very impressed. #
  • Don't have a HD subscription (refuse to pay more for TV) but we get Freeview HD channels in HD free of charge, which is nice. BBC 1 HD, etc. #
  • Sadly true, @AzhriaLilu – A few trouble makers can quickly take over a topic or blog entry. #
  • Watching a bit of "Lost Boys". Probably the only decent thing to survive the 80s. #
  • Finally arrived. Complete with fugly "Orange" decal on the bottom. Nice phone though. Refined greatly from 9000. http://mypict.me/3sg5N #
  • First impressions BB 9700: Smaller form factor. Sleeker look. Brighter clearer display. Slightly smaller keypad. OS 5 smoother and refined. #
  • Incredible – Watch a man age 8 years in under 2 minutes – http://bit.ly/73aq /via @Documentally #
  • Fired up VMWare Fusion to use Windows Blackberry desktop manager to switch devices. Mac version lacks this feature. Transfers apps + data. #
  • Mac version just does a back-up restore but won't do third party apps. #annoying #
  • Some hardcore tech action. This is how Blackberrys are made. http://bit.ly/bZBOou #
  • Little comparison of how much smaller the Bold 9700 is over the 9000 – http://bit.ly/bPjYlv #
  • Finding it hard to focus. But I have had a good idea for ..er.. something I was working on. #
  • Enjoying the new BB Bold 9700. Much more responsive and snappier. Makes such a difference. http://myloc.me/3taiJ #
  • The act of moving written code from my head into several different text files is incredibly tedious. #
  • It's at this point I start getting easily distracted. Like um… #
  • Actually, with the #ipb 3 framework, you're not so much writing code as writing little bridges between existing functionality. #
  • Made more tedious because some has to go into language files, some into JS files, some into HTML files, some into classes, some into modules #
  • Anyway. It won't write itself. This isn't a Stephen King novel. Back to work. Last bits of the latest 'mystery' feature for #ipb. #
  • Brain melting. Been working full throttle most of the day and it takes its toll on my sanity. #
  • Finished the most complex part of unnamed feature 1029384 for #ipb. Back to good ol' PHP crunching data. #
  • This is just perfect: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YtGSXMuWMR4 – How to report the news, by @charltonbrooker. #
  • You know it's been a long morning when you try and create a table with…. "blah_date TIME(10) NOT NULL" #
  • I lack the ability to concentrate. Perhaps a mug of fresh brain juice would help. #
  • If I have to use "in_array()" once more, I'm going to vomit. Can't we just assume no one will try and hack anything? #
  • Almost done with mystery feature for #ipb though. Turned into a bit of an event. #
  • Arrays are fun. If I see "is_array" or "count" again today I will pull out my eyes. #
  • Goodbye ugly Orange bezel. My replacement turned up today. http://tweetphoto.com/10472780 #
  • Now, isn't that better? http://bit.ly/cgMmwW Anyway, back to my behemoth of an array. #
  • Just heard from downstairs "Luke, take your socks off and stop standing in your wee-wee". Two guesses what he's up to. #
  • Feeling rather tired today. Which suits the rather grey day. #
  • I wonder if @UberTwiter will let me remove the ads. Purchased a key but since switched Blackberrys. #
  • You know you're impatient when you decide to do a u-turn on a busy slip road onto a dual carriage way. http://tweetphoto.com/10569087 #
  • Slightly obsessed with imdb.com. Can't resist looking up cast and trivia while a film is on. Like to know what else they've been in. #
  • I remember the pre-internet days when you'd be annoyed for days at what else an actor has been in and then it'd strike you like… #
  • … An epiphany from God while you had lunch 4 days after watching the film. #
  • I also remember going into our small local VHS rental store and asking to be put on thje three week long waiting list for "Commando". #
  • Wasn't worth the wait. Recall they also rented betamax tapes too. I really am old. #
  • Last tweet. Do we reckon that blu-ray is the last type of traditional media that films will be distributed on? Surely downloads r the future #
  • Interesting views re: downloads v blu-ray. Agree that owning a disk and the better quality wins for now. #
  • Oh look kids! The sheep are …um… Playing leapfrog! http://tweetphoto.com/10684888 #
